Community Oriented Policing

Community policing is a philosophy that promotes organizational approaches that support the well-organized use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.

Greetings,

I have been extremely pleased to initiate the first Community Oriented Policing project of this type in Jasper County. During the summer of 2013, we implemented special purpose patrols, security patrols and increased visibility in selected neighborhood, or target area’s. This is in an effort to deter and reduce criminal activity. Many Jasper County Citizens have been contacted by a deputy during this project already and I appreciate your assistance in helping us to identify problems in your neighborhood. We call this project Team Policing, because it is our goal to partner with the citizens of Jasper County to identify issues and find ways to resolve them. Sometimes this encompasses non-traditional law enforcement actions, such as directing citizens to partner with community resources.

In the coming months, deputies will be making contact at the residences in existing and new target areas. Deputies will be sent to follow up and see if there are continuing concerns and measure progress. Our hope is that we can make contact with everyone during this time, but if we are unable to make contact with you, please feel free to communicate with us via the form that will be left on your door. You can also call us or email us if you have questions or concerns that we can help with.

Again I want to thank you for your help during this project. Your assistance is vital. It is the goal of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office to make our community a safe place to live and that goal can only be met with your help.

Sincerely,

Sheriff Randee Kaiser
