The 22nd Sheriff’s Citizens Academy, Fall 2022 Session is in progress and we are no longer taking applications for it. We will accept applications for the Spring Academy. The Spring Academy dates will be announced sometime in February.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. There is no cost for participants.
The Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy was initiated in 2010 to give the citizens of Jasper County an inside look into the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s Office and Jail. Participants will be introduced to the challenges faced by law enforcement and learn about why we do what we do.
Topics will include: History of the Office of Sheriff, Courthouse Operations, Patrol Functions, Dangerous Drugs, DWI Enforcement, K-9 Operations, Detention Center Operations, SWAT Operations, Firearms, Cyber Crimes, Crimes against Children, Criminal Investigations, and Crime Scene Investigations.
