Civil Process

The Civil Process Division consists of a total of four employees, one which is a supervisor (Corporal). This Division is also overseen by a Sergeant which also supervises two other Divisions (Bailiff’s and Court Security).

The job duties of the civil process division are to serve and handle all types of court documents consisting of: Orders of Protection (Adult and Child), Subpoenas, Summons, and Garnishments. Other duties of the civil process server are to execute Evictions, Replevins, and Levies. Some of these duties require the Deputy to seize and later auction off property with a judgment issued from the courts.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Division has recently updated it’s service fees in accordance with RSMO 57.280 and mileage fee rates in accordance with the 2025 IRS Standard Mileage Rates.  Below is a new chart reflecting the change in service fees and mileage fees.  Should you have any questions, please contact the Civil Process Clerk at 417-358-8177, Option 5.

The types of civil process the Sheriff serves are citations, child support orders, garnishments, general executions, motions, subpoena’s, order of protection, replevin actions, a show of cause orders, summons, petitions, writs, unlawful detainers, mechanics liens, and any other document the court may request.

If requesting service for multiple documents at the same address and the documents have the same case number, the mileage fee will only be charged one time.

The fee on all civil cases must be sent with the document(s) to be served, and in the form of cashier’s check, money order, a check from a circuit clerk’s office or law firm. We do not accept personal checks.

Eviction Process: Once the eviction order is received from the Circuit Clerk’s Office, an assigned deputy will post the paperwork on the respondent’s door for eviction. After five days, the landlord or someone assigned to that address will need to see if the respondent is still living at such address. If they are, you will need to contact our dispatch center at 417-359-9100 and request a civil deputy.
